 The New Tattoo

The first of Troy’s paintings that really captured my attention was titled “The New Tattoo.  It was at the Solomon-Dubnick Gallery at the time.  This painting has become available for sale.  It is located near Woodland, California.  Arrangements can be made to transport this rather large canvas to the buyers location.  Contact Alan Pedersen at (916) 383-5341.  This is the telephone number of a business (not a gallery) that answers, “Forensics Lab Supply”.

Most of Toy Dalton’s paintings are very large.  The interplay of nature and sexuality is therefore not something that can be readily tucked away, out of sight.   The price for The New Tattoo is $34,000.

Troy was born in Sweetwater, Texas in 1952    He grew up near Billings, Montana. Troy earned a master of fine arts degree at University of California at Davis after having earned a master’s degree in art at University of Wyoming in 1981.  He later taught figure drawing and painting at UC Davis, CSU Chico, American River College, and San Francisco City College, and Woodland Community High School.  In 2007, the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento honored him with a special exhibition. He also served on the board of the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento.

Troy’s studio was broken into and at least one piece was taken   As near as I can tell, the piece is about 4 feet high by 3 feet wide.  It is an image of a woman with an owl.

Title unknown by Troy Dalton. Stolen in January 2014.

If you are contacted by anyone trying to offer this for sale, contact me at 916 383 5341.

Because his studio was broken in to, and some paintings had been removed, I will publish as many images of Troy’s painting as I have.  I will work with those most familiar with the contents to identify which ones have been stolen.

I will continue to offer, on this page, images of Troy’s works.  Any help in identifying titles and sizes would be appreciated.  If I may know which ones are still available for purchase, I can make that known as well.
